Therapy for Adult Children of Military Service Members
Growing up as the child of a military service member means your life has been anything but ordinary. Your roots stretch across states, countries, and continents. You carry memories of places and experiences that most people can only imagine. And yet, somewhere in that incredible journey, you might have found it hard to figure out exactly where you belong.
If you’ve ever felt like you’re floating between worlds, you’re not alone. Many of us who grew up as military brats live with a unique blend of pride and challenge. We’re resilient, adaptable, and culturally rich. But we’ve also faced upheaval, loss, and the struggle to find a true sense of home. That’s the duality of being a third culture kid: you’re part of everything but don’t always feel fully connected to anything.
That’s why I created a space just for you. Individual therapy tailored for adult children of military service members is about honoring your unique story while helping you navigate the complexities it brings into your life now. This is a space where you can unpack what it’s meant to grow up in a lifestyle that shaped every part of you—for better and for harder.
Exploring Your Layers of Identity
We’ll work together to explore what it means to carry all those layers. Maybe you feel disconnected from people who don’t “get it,” or maybe you’ve struggled to build lasting relationships because you’re so used to saying goodbye. Perhaps you’re navigating grief for places, people, or moments you never had the chance to hold onto. Or maybe you’re still figuring out what "home" even means for you.
You Are Whole, Not Broken
This isn’t about fixing you, because there’s nothing broken. This is about creating clarity and connection. It’s about giving you the tools to feel grounded, even when life feels unsteady. Together, we’ll look at how your upbringing shaped your sense of identity and belonging—and how you can use that understanding to build a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.
I grew up as a military brat, moving from base/post to base/post and country to country, packing and unpacking more times than I can count. Each new place meant new friends, new schools, and a new culture to adapt to. It was exciting and overwhelming all at once. I know the loneliness that came with constantly starting over. I’ve experienced the awkward silences when trying to explain my childhood to someone who’s never lived it. I’ve navigated the challenges of feeling deeply connected to everywhere and yet belonging nowhere. It’s this shared understanding that allows me to meet you where you are with genuine empathy and insight.
Our work will be rooted in empathy and exploration, shaped by the shared understanding of what it means to grow up constantly adapting to new environments. We’ll look at the strengths your upbringing gave you—resilience, adaptability, and cultural awareness—and how to lean into them with confidence. At the same time, we’ll gently unpack any patterns or pain points, like the struggles of feeling disconnected or the emotional toll of constant goodbyes. Whether it’s managing anxiety, improving relationships, or simply making sense of your unique and layered path, this is your time to focus on you—with a guide who truly understands.
Your experience is real, and there is nothing wrong with you.
